The Early Years

The Fantastic Four first appeared in Marvel's Fantastic Four #1 in November 1961. The team consisted of four astronauts who gained superpowers after being exposed to cosmic rays during a space mission. Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and Thing quickly became fan favorites, and their adventures helped to define the Marvel Universe.

In the early years, the Fantastic Four faced off against a wide range of villains, including Doctor Doom, Galactus, and the Skrulls. They also went on many exciting adventures, traveling to space, exploring lost civilizations, and even meeting the Avengers.

The 1990s: A New Era

In the 1990s, the Fantastic Four underwent a number of changes. The team's membership was expanded to include new characters such as She-Hulk and Black Panther. The series also took on a more mature tone, exploring social and political issues such as racism, sexism, and environmentalism.

One of the most important events in the Fantastic Four's history occurred in 1996, with the publication of Fantastic Four #500. This issue featured the death of Franklin Richards, the infant son of Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman. Franklin's death had a profound impact on the team, and it led to a number of changes in the series.
